The Healthcare providers connected with the “Coolamon” program have absolute discretion to choose which expecting mothers receive the gift.
Disadvantage comes in many forms and it is not our place to decide who deserves the gift. Suitability for the “Coolamon” program can only be accurately determined by those who know the unique context of the mum and baby in question.
It is a fundamental goal of ours to optimise access to available healthcare providers and promote continuity of care. “The Coolamon” is a gift that strengthens the trust and connection between Health Services and the mothers - fostering an ongoing relationship.
Why?
The overarching purpose of the Coolamon Community is to provide a stepping stone that empowers First Nations mothering. It is our hope that by providing an essentials gift and securing ongoing healthcare relationships, we can support generations of Mothers and Children.
“The Coolamon” is a gift that is ideally given to the Mother pre-term so that she is able to familiarise herself with its contents, and feel secure in knowing she has the material goods to support her newborn, and can focus on discovering the cultural and innate motherhood knowledge needed on this new journey.
By communicating with us, delivery to any location can be arranged. Our initial rollout is focused on Northern NSW, but as we continue to grow, this will expand.

Every item in the Coolamon Crib has been specially selected for the benefit of our recipients. Coolamon Community understands that wants and needs change and we really want to hear about it when it does. It is of the utmost importance that we hit the mark every time with our gifts.
The carefully curated items in our Coolamon Crib were selected on quality and merit. Taking time to be informed about the brands and item usage will increase your confidence in the gift and provide a good basis for conversation with you new or expecting mum - helping to develop trust.
